Our video pages include "classic" titles: films that have a continuing popularity with our customers, and some recent titles now reduced in price! We list some "must-see" movies and documentaries that would make important cornerstones to any gay and lesbian home video library. Of special note in this issue is Positive Image, a video news show depicting families of gays and lesbians who are leading positive, productive lives.

intosh or DOS computers) is a listing of famous gay folk throughout history.

Lambda Rising is also having a very busy season of author appearances in our DC store. On Thursday, November 4, Stephen Leinen visits Lambda Rising /DC to read from and sign Gay Cops from 6 until 7 p.m. This is a landmark study of the lives of gay and lesbian police officers in America. He explores the dilemmas facing homosexual officers as they balance the day-to-day realities of their work and their sexual identities.

Monday, November 8 from 6 until 7 p.m., Joan Slonczewski visits Lambda Rising/

DC to read from and sign Daughter of Elysium. This novel begins a thousand years after the end of her previous book, Door Into Ocean, which is now regarded as a classic of feminist-lesbian science fiction literature. This is the story of the Sharers (a feminist utopian society) and the Elysians whose societies collide in the bubble city of Helicon.

Wednesday, November 10, Edmund White visits Lambda Rising /DC from 6 until 7 p.m. to discuss and sign his long-awaited book, Genet: A Biography, the first full-scale account of the life of the great French author. Through interviews with lovers, friends, publishers, and acquaintances, and with new material drawn from letters

and other original sources, White examines Genet's life as literary celebrity. He offers an illuminating analysis of Genet's astonishing oeuvre of novels and plays.

Monday, November 15, Matthew Stadler visits Lambda Rising/ DC from 6 until 7 p.m. to read from and sign his new novel, The Dissolution of Nicholas Dee. This darkly comic novel chronicles the life of a young, intense, anxiety-ridden history professor whose adventures ultimately lead him to exile in Holland.

Wednesday, November 17, Andrea Weiss discusses and signs her new book, Vampires and Violets: Lesbians In Film from 6 until 7 p.m. at Lambda Rising/ DC. This study tracks the often elusive trail of the lesbian through Hollywood films, Bmovies, European art cinema, and the work of contemporary di-

rectors.

Thursday, November 18, Robert Goss visits Lambda Rising /DC to discuss and sign his book, Jesus Acted Up: A Gay and Lesbian Manifesto from 6 until 7 p.m. Gay activist and former Jesuit priest, Goss brilliantly unites a celebration of "queerness" with the principles of liberation theology to present an unapologetic challenge to the homophobia of the churches.
